EFFECTS OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (HBP) affects the EYE too...I'm sure you didn't know.
See it's that bad because it affects the blood vessels of the retina, and the retina which is the most sensitive part of the eye is the tissue layer located in the back of your eye.
Over time, HBP can cause damage to the retina's blood vessels, limit the retina's function, and put pressure on the optic nerve (is a nerve that sends what the eye sees to the brain for interpretation) causing:
• Blurry Vision
• Bursting of the retinal vessels
• Headache
• Double Vision
• Blindness if not managed on time
Visit your eye doctor if you notice any of these signs/symptoms for prompt and adequate management.
The following conditions put you at a higher risk for HYPERTENSIVE RETINOPATHY
• Prolonged high blood pressure
• Heart disease
• Atherosclerosis
• Diabetes
• Smoking
• High blood cholesterol
• Overweight
• Eating an unhealthy diet.
Save your VISION today by checking your BLOOD PRESSURE regularly regardless of your age, and taking adequate medications if you're already HYPERTENSIVE.
