Prescription Glasses Correct Vision

Image
I'm sure you always think that PRESCRIPTION GLASSES will permanently correct your vision if you wear them for a period of time, meaning that after some time you'll need to stop wearing them and you'll see better without them on, especially if you're a myope, hyperope, presbyope, or astigmat. 💖 I've heard so many people complain, they always tell me "Doctor, I've worn my glasses for over 2 years, but each time I remove them my vision seems to be thesame way it was before I started wearing my glasses". 💖 Some others complain and say "Doctor my vision seems to be worse than it was before I started wearing my glasses whenever I remove them". 💖 Well, the above complaints are expected, because PRESCRIPTION GLASSES ONLY CORRECT YOUR VISION WHEN YOU WEAR THEM!!! Once you remove your glasses, your vision goes back to the way it was, and this is why glasses are called VISION AIDS. They aid your eye process light properly whenever you wea...

NOT EVERY RED EYE (PINK EYE) NEEDS AN ANTIBIOTICS!!!

Image
Pink eye is a lay term used to describe any eye that is red or pink. Many diseases can cause an eye to become red. Most are either allergic, bacterial, viral or toxic. Each are treated differently. It takes a thorough examination by an eye doctor using various instruments to accurately detect the exact cause of your red eyes. So stop visiting that "drugstore" and wasting your hard earned money on that "ANTIBIOTIC EYEDROP", because that red eye won't go until you visit your eye doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. If you keep using that antibiotics wrongly, you'll be causing your precious eyes more harm than good.

Image Credit: EyeCare.org What is MYOPIA? Myopia also called near-sightedness is a condition in which close objects appear clearly, but far ones don't. Near-sightedness tends to run in families. It is the most common cause of impaired vision in people under age 40. In recent years, its prevalence is growing at an alarming rate. If you are nearsighted, you will have difficulty reading road signs and seeing distant objects clearly, but will be able to see well for close-up tasks such as reading and computer use. CAUSES 1. Myopia occurs when the eyeball is too long, relative to the focusing power of the cornea and lens of the eye. This causes light rays to focus at a point in front of the retina, rather than directly on the retina. 2. Hereditary SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS 1. Squinting 2. Eye Strain 3. Headache 4. Feeling fatique when driving or playing sports. 5. Large eyeballs 6. Large cornea If you experience these signs or symptoms while wearing your glasses or contact...

HAEMOLACRIA (BLOODY TEARS)

Image
Can you imagine crying tears of blood? It may sound like a horror movie, but bloody tears are actually a real thing. Blood in the tears is a rare condition known as HAEMOLACRIA 💖 💖  HAEMOLACRIA is a physical condition that causes a person to produce tears that are partially composed of blood. It can manifest as tears that are anything from merely red-tinged to appearing to be entirely made of blood. 💖 CAUSES OF HAEMOLACRIA 💖 1. CONJUNCTIVAL INJURY: The conjunctiva is a clear tissue membrane that lies on top of the sclera, the white part of the eye. Within the conjunctiva is a meshwork of blood vessels. Sometimes infection, inflammation or laceration can cause bleeding of the conjunctiva since it is so blood vessel-rich. The blood simply seeps out and mixes with the tears, making it appear as if the person is making tears with blood in them. 💖 2. BLOOD DISORDERS:  Blood disorders including hemophilia can cause excessive bleeding due to clotting problems. ...

PTERYGIUM

Image
Aunty doc well done oo!!! Please I want to complain to you about my eye. See eehh, just look at my eye there's something growing there and it's moving towards my black eye. This thing disturbs me alot especially when I'm outside, on a bike, when it's airy, or when I'm cooking with my firewood, sometimes when I stay under the air condition for a long time. You know the worst part of it is that it makes me feel like there's sand in my eyes, it itches me, and sometimes my eyes turn red and pains me. Doc abeg what is this? 💖 Madam this growth on your eye is called PTERYGIUM!!! 💖 •WHAT IS PTERYGIUM? A pterygium also called "surfer's eye" is a visible, often triangular, growth on the surface of the eye. It is an elevated, wedged-shaped bump on the eyeball that starts on the white of the eye (sclera) and can invade the cornea. Pterygium is a benign (non-cancerous) growth, but, if left untreated, can extend across the pupil obscuring vision,...

NEW BORN BABIES DO NOT SHED TEARS, WHY?

Image
DID YOU KNOW???🤔 💖 💖 Ever noticed you'll never see tears rolling down a young baby's cheeks? Newborns don't shed tears because their tear glands haven't fully formed... 💖 💖 Although newborn babies will certainly let you know if they’re unhappy, they’re technically not crying because their tear ducts won’t be developed enough to create tears until they’re between one and three months old. Howling, yes.Wailing, yes.Screeching, definitely. But crying? Not really. 💖 💖 See an optometrist if after a period of 3 months you still notice the absence of tears with other signs like redness at the inner corner of the eye and a slight tenderness and swelling or bump at the side of the nose. THIS COULD BE A SIGN OF AN INFECTION!!! 💖 💖
